The instruments sang as if one voice.
The music rose & expanded & became
pure emotion.
Tears streamed from my eyes. I wept uncontrollably.
It was more than I was & more than I could ever be.
It was Healing & a Testament to the best of who we are and to the worst of who we are.
It was a confession, It was a celebration..
It was at our most human.
this is the power of art and the person that has not experienced it is only half alive.
-Kent Nerburn,
after watching Leonard Bernstein
conduct Beethoven's 9th in concert
celebrating the fall of the Berlin wall.
